Being a Melvindale native, he was highly regarded by his community and was known for his unwavering commitment to upholding justice. He was dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
In recognition of the honorable and selfless service of Police Officer Mohamed Said, the State of Michigan has decided to lower flags to half-staff. Not only the residents, but also businesses, schools, local governments, and other organizations across Michigan are encouraged to join in displaying the flag at half-staff. The lowering of the flag will coincide with the day of the funeral.
When lowering flags to half-staff, it’s important to follow a specific protocol. Firstly, the flags should be hoisted to the peak for a moment before being lowered to the half-staff position. This process is then reversed when it’s time to lower the flag for the day.
The day to raise the flags back to full staff is on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
