According to the police, a man has been accused of assaulting another man with an ax handle.
Two men were involved in a domestic disturbance, and LaPorte police were summoned to the 4900 block of N. County Road 325 West to investigate.
Upon their arrival, the basement was where they discovered an unconscious 54-year-old man. At present, he is in a critical condition and has been transported to the hospital for treatment.
The authorities detained Phillip Jones, a 53-year-old man, after he received medical clearance.
Currently, the individual is being held in the LaPorte County Jail and has been charged with both aggravated battery and domestic battery.
