Two men were killed and another man was injured in a shooting incident on the west side of Indianapolis on Monday afternoon.
The police initially reported that one person had died and two others had been injured.
The investigation led to the closure of West Michigan Street, stretching from Holt Road to North Tibbs Avenue.
One of the men who died was discovered at the location in the 3600 block of West Michigan Street, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. This residential area is situated between Holt Road and North Tibbs Avenue.
Another man discovered at the site of the Michigan Street shooting sustained gunshot wounds but was conscious and breathing.
The third man discovered near the shooting scene on Vermont Street’s 4000 block was in critical condition and immediately transported to a hospital.
The identity of the man who died from the shooting remained unknown between the two survivors.
Detectives are currently investigating whether the shootings are connected or not. According to the investigators, it is believed that the shootings are an isolated incident.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the IMPD, Speedway police, and the Indianapolis Fire Department, responded to a report of a person shot in the 4000 block of West Vermont Street at around 2 p.m. The incident occurred in a west side neighborhood near the Speedway Sanitation Plant, close to Holt Road.
Shortly after, there were two more calls reporting a “person shot” in the same area.
There is currently no information available regarding any potential suspects at this time.
