A man was arrested after a high-speed chase in La Porte County came to an end.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 31st, at approximately 12:30 a.m.
While patrolling on “J” Street near 5th Street, the sheriff’s deputy immediately noticed Alex Dekock’s car. It was driving with only one headlight and frequently changing lanes without signaling.
The deputy attempted to pull over Dekock on State Road 2, but the driver abruptly accelerated, initiating a chase that traversed multiple streets. The pursuit ultimately came to a halt when Dekock lost control at the intersection of US 35 and CR 400 South, colliding with a parked SUV and the front of a house, resulting in substantial property damage.
Dekock, who was the only person in the vehicle, was apprehended at the scene after having difficulty complying with the instructions given to him.
Inside the home, a woman sustained injuries from the crash but declined any medical assistance.
After being apprehended, Dekock was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for a thorough examination. Following the checkup, he was subsequently transferred to La Porte County Jail, where he faced multiple charges including resisting law enforcement, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and reckless driving.
After posting bail, he was released.
