After pleading guilty to selling methamphetamine, a man from Brownsburg was given 12 years in jail followed by five years of being closely watched.
Court records show that the DEA began looking into Scott Planalp’s actions related to trafficking meth in June 2022. The DOJ said that DEA officials saw Planalp sell meth to different people for money three times in June 2022.
The DOJ said that on June 15, 2022, Planalp sold 72.9 grams of meth to a person for $1,050. Police said Planalp was caught on tape telling the buyer that he was in drug court because he had been arrested for drug dealing before and had to take three drug tests every week
During the DEA’s investigation, Planalp gave out a total of 185.1 grams of meth.
“People who traffic meth must be held responsible for the harm their poison causes to people and families who have a problem with drugs,” said Zachary A. Myers, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “This defendant didn’t care that he had been arrested before; he kept doing the illegal things that got him into state court in the first place.”
The lengthy federal jail term here shows how serious these repeated crimes were and how important it is to protect the community from a drug dealer who didn’t care about the law, the courts, or the harm he caused.
