A man in the Rolling Prairie area of La Porte County, IN, has been charged in connection with his courageous act of confronting several home invaders during the early morning hours.
During that same morning, one of the suspects is also alleged to have attempted to forcefully enter another nearby residence. However, the property owner managed to deter him by brandishing a firearm.
Christopher Henderson, aged 37, faces charges of burglary and attempted burglary. Cory Horton, 26, and Melissa Locquiao, 39, are both accused of burglary.
In the early morning of August 31, a husband and wife woke up at around 4 a.m. They grabbed their flashlights and confronted the individuals who were inside their residence located in the 3300 block of E. Division Road, as stated in court documents.
The suspects were able to leave the scene without any trouble. However, the police managed to locate them as they were walking along County Road 50 North following their failed attempt at a home invasion.
According to court documents, investigators discovered that Henderson had recently attempted to forcibly open a door at another residence in the 4300 block of E. 50 North.
As Henderson attempted to pry open another door in the backyard, the homeowner, armed with a gun, confronted him, according to the police.
The authorities have identified two suspects from Portage and one suspect from Hobart.
According to court documents, it seems that the individuals who were chased away from the homeowner’s residence arrived on motorcycles, as evidenced by the presence of two-wheeled vehicles in the driveway. The homeowner threatened to call the police during the incident.
