The shooting occurred at around 8 p.m. on Thursday in the vicinity of East 34th Street and Emerson Avenue.
A shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis has claimed the life of a man in his 50s.
The incident took place around 8 p.m. on Thursday in the 3400 block of North Leland Avenue near East 34th Street and Emerson Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a green truck parked on the street, with visible bullet holes on the driver’s side. Additionally, the police reported that gunfire had shattered the driver’s side window.
The officers discovered a man who was not responsive inside the truck. They rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but unfortunately, he was later declared dead.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as Michael Alvin Edwards, aged 57.
According to witnesses, the house adjacent to the location where the man was shot is notorious for housing squatters and is considered to be a problematic property.
Currently, there is no information regarding a potential suspect or motive.
