The Military Family Relief Fund’s Operation Back to School Program is offering assistance to Hoosier military veterans who have children going back to school.
State Representative Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron), who is also an Army Veteran, has announced that eligible veterans can receive $500 per dependent child living in their home for back-to-school needs. This offer applies to children attending K-12, as well as full-time college students up to 23 years of age who are living at home.
Aylesworth expressed his deep appreciation and respect for the courageous men and women who have dedicated their lives to serve our nation. He acknowledged their selfless acts of sacrifice and unwavering commitment to defend our freedom. Aylesworth believes that this program is an excellent opportunity to support our veterans and their families in need. He strongly encourages all veterans who require assistance to apply and take advantage of this program.
Applications are currently open until August 30th for families of four with a household income that does not exceed twice the federal poverty level, which is currently set at $62,400.
According to State Representative Chris Jeter (R-Fishers), who is a veteran himself, this fund provides crucial support to veterans and their families by covering expenses such as housing, utilities, food, healthcare, and transportation costs.
Jeter stated that transitioning to civilian life after military service can be challenging, particularly when searching for a new career or housing. With the ongoing high inflation, many families are struggling to make ends meet. The fund provides year-round grants to assist Hoosier veterans who are having difficulty paying for essential needs.
