A Logansport couple, who were arrested and charged last month after their 14-year-old son went missing for over two weeks, will now be allowed to see him with DCS supervision.
During a hearing on Thursday, the judge accepted the request made by Daniel and Kristen Muir to modify a no contact order with their teenage son while they are awaiting trial, as reported by our sister station WTHR.
Both Daniel, a former Indianapolis Colts player, and Kristin are facing charges of obstruction of justice. Additionally, Daniel is facing a battery charge for reportedly abusing a teenager.
WTHR obtained court documents revealing that in a recorded phone call, Daniel admitted to “whooping his a** like a grown a** man” in response to the inappropriate behavior of the boy. He also allegedly remarked that if they were in their “homeland,” the boy would have faced execution for his actions.
In early July, the Muirs were charged following a SWAT raid that resulted in their arrests and the safe recovery of their missing teenage son. The 14-year-old boy had been missing since mid-June and a silver alert had been issued after his grandmother shared a photo with the police that showed him with a black eye.
Their next court appearance is set for October, when they will attend a pre-trial hearing. The couple’s jury trial has been scheduled for November 4th.
