Perry Township Schools has confirmed that the individual responsible for the tragic incident, where two teenagers were shot and a woman and himself were killed, was a former reserve police officer who had previously worked for the district. Additionally, it has been verified that the two teenagers involved in the incident were students of Perry Township.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on the south side of Indianapolis. Tragically, two adults lost their lives in the incident, while two teenagers sustained injuries. This incident took place on Monday evening.

Around 9 p.m. on August 12, a report came in about an incident that occurred in the 600 block of Watersonway Circle, Circle. This location is situated northeast of Bluff Road and Edgewood Avenue.

IMPD received a call about a domestic disturbance with a weapon at the residence. Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots coming from the house. They swiftly entered and discovered two wounded teenagers inside.

A teenager was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, while the condition of the other teenager was reported to be stable, according to a spokesperson from the IMPD.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13 as Thomas Joseph Nolan, aged 43. According to the office, it appears that his death was a result of suicide.

Nolan served as a reserve deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office from 2003 to 2004. Subsequently, he transitioned to becoming a reserve officer with the IMPD, dedicating 21 years to his career in law enforcement before resigning on May 15, 2024.

According to an IMPD spokesperson, law enforcement officials believe that all four individuals involved in this incident are related. The spokesperson stated that detectives have reason to believe that this tragic event is a case of domestic-related murder-suicide.

The department has confirmed that the individual believed to be the shooter is a retired IMPD reserve officer who served until May 2024.
