The foster mom, who is accused of sitting on 10-year-old Dakota Levi Stevens resulting in his death, is currently seeking to have her no-contact order lifted.
According to court documents, Jennifer Wilson and her defense team are currently seeking to release $10,000 from her $20,000 bond in order to retain legal representation and cover the expenses related to her case, including potential expert costs.
According to the filing, half of the $10,000 will be placed in Baldwin, Perry and Wiley’s Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) and will be kept there until it is required.
According to a document, her bond was paid by her husband on July 17th, three days after she was arrested in New Buffalo, Michigan on July 14th.
Wilson and her defense team have taken action to request the removal of her non-contact order concerning her two young dependents. According to the Northwest Indiana Times, she is questioning the need for the protective order and challenging the prosecutors to provide evidence of its legal necessity.
According to DCS, Wilson’s license to operate a foster home was revoked on June 30.
After being charged with reckless homicide, she was accused of the death of Dakota Levi Stevens, a 10-year-old who had been placed into her foster home.
A hearing has been scheduled for September 4 to consider her motion to terminate the no-contact order. Furthermore, a jury trial has been scheduled for March 3, with additional hearings set for September 24, October 29, and December 3.
