The free concert event aims to support the positive effects of art and culture on mental health and wellbeing.
Mike Epps, the beloved local celebrity, is set to host a spectacular free concert on the near northeast side of Indianapolis.
Mike Epps’ Community Concert will be hosted by the talented comedian and actor at Frederick Douglass Park on September 7th. The event will take place from 2-6 p.m. and promises to be an entertaining and fun-filled experience for all attendees.
The concert event aims to support the positive influence of art and culture on mental health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on the Black community. The lineup of performers includes Stokely, previously of Mint Condition, Donell Jones, and Full Force.
“I wanted to bring some joy to the city, boost morale, and give it to the people. My goal was to ensure that they have a great time,” Epps shared.
Having spent my formative years in close proximity to downtown Indianapolis, I am intimately familiar with the challenges that the city grapples with.
“I believe many of our children are experiencing boredom due to a lack of activities. It is crucial for us, as city leaders, to unite and find solutions to provide these kids with opportunities to engage themselves,” expressed Epps.
This weekend, Epps aims to make a positive impact by immersing children and families in a creative environment, with the intention of imparting a straightforward message.
“Strive to reach for the stars. Embrace your full potential. Have unwavering faith in your abilities. And above all, prioritize self-love. As he wisely stated, ‘Once you can truly love yourself, you will be capable of extending love towards others.'”
Epps expressed his hope to transform the community concert into a recurring event.
There will be food trucks and a vendor village located at the corner of East 25th Street and Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue, near the concert.
The onsite health department services will encompass a range of offerings, including the Dental Health – Smile Mobile Unit, Vaccines Mobile Unit, Bell Flower Mobile Unit, PHEP, Ryan White & Substance Use Outreach Services, and many others.
