The woman involved in the incident has now been identified as Ashley Nolan, aged 41, who is the wife of Nolan. It is also believed that the two teenagers involved in the incident are the couple’s daughters.
Two adults were killed and two children were injured during a “domestic disturbance” on the south side of Indianapolis on Monday night, according to the police.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office and IMPD have both confirmed the identity of the suspected shooter as Thomas Joseph Nolan, a former IMPD Reserve Officer who retired in May 2024.
Authorities have determined that his death appears to be a suicide. They suspect that he fatally shot a woman, who has since been identified as his wife, Ashley Nolan, aged 41.
Just after 9 p.m., an incident occurred on Watersonway Circle, located northeast of the intersection of West Edgewood Avenue and Bluff Road. As officers were en route to the scene, they heard the sound of multiple gunshots.
According to Thompson, the officers swiftly entered the premises and discovered two teenagers with gunshot wounds, who are presumed to be the couple’s daughters.
One teenager was transported to a hospital and is currently in stable condition, while the other teenager remains in serious condition.
Thompson expressed deep sympathy for the family members of both the adults and children affected by the situation, acknowledging the immense tragedy they are currently facing.
