Indiana House Republicans are currently accepting applications for statehouse internships for the upcoming 2025 legislative session.
This opportunity welcomes college students and recent graduates, providing them with a valuable learning experience. Area lawmakers emphasize the significance of this opportunity, highlighting its suitability for students from various majors.
State Representative Bob Heaton (R-Terre Haute) emphasized the value of the Statehouse internship program as a means for students to enhance their professional skills and connect with prominent leaders from various parts of the state. Heaton expressed strong support for interested individuals who meet the eligibility criteria, urging them to apply without hesitation.
The internship takes place in Indianapolis at the statehouse.
Interns work full-time Monday through Friday, from January through April, and they receive a bi-weekly payment of $900.
Interns are provided with a range of benefits, including free parking, support for career and professional development, the chance to enroll in an Indiana government class, and the opportunity to earn academic credits through their college or university.
Interns have the opportunity to apply for a highly competitive scholarship of $3,000, which can be used to cover both undergraduate and graduate expenses, according to State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville).
