A man from northwest Indiana was taken into custody on charges that he ran a full-service bar out of his house.According to the authorities, Scott Meece, a resident of La Porte, Indiana, operated the Iron Horse Saloon out of an extension on his house on West McClung Road.
Court filings state that men and women posing as bartenders gave food and beer to undercover cops.
There was also gambling; the winner got to pick between a motorcycle and cash.
Meece disclosed to investigators that the Iron Horse Saloon operated as a nonprofit establishment. He added that the $10 cover price and the proceeds from the sale of drinks were donated to charitable causes.
After being freed from the LaPorte County Jail, Meece faces a maximum sentence of 2.5 years in jail should he be found guilty of the felony of maintaining a common nuisance.
