Carlos Lagunes-Fraceschy, a 41-year-old man, was discovered unresponsive at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Sadly, he was pronounced dead just 25 minutes later, according to deputies.
An inmate in the infirmary of the Adult Detention Center died Wednesday morning, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Carlos Lagunes-Fraceschy, aged 41, was discovered unconscious by the sheriff’s office at approximately 10:15 a.m. on August 28th.
Medical personnel on the scene made every effort to save Lagunes-Fraceschy’s life until 10:40 a.m., when he was declared deceased.
According to the sheriff’s office, Lagunes-Fraceschy had complained about stomach pain the previous night and had requested to be transferred to the infirmary. Following his request, he received medical treatment and was subsequently placed in a single-bed infirmary observation cell.
The sheriff’s office stated that Lagunes-Fraceschy received medical attention at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and was reported as responsive. However, at 10:15 a.m., he was found unresponsive during the subsequent check-up.
The sheriff’s office stated that an independent investigation is being conducted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Forensic Services Agency, the Marion County Coroner’s Office, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit to ensure transparency and accountability in light of Mr. Lagunes-Fraceschy’s death.
Lagunes-Fraceschy had been in custody in Marion County on three separate occasions since 2018, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. At present, he is facing charges including possession of methamphetamine, false identity statement, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
