A man who was caught with a pipe bomb in his vehicle during an arrest has been imprisoned and is currently serving his sentence in Hillsdale County, MI.
According to court records, Joseph Michael Lazarus received a sentence of 10 months in the Hillsdale County Jail on July 1 after pleading guilty to two out of six felony charges.
According to the court records, Lazarus, who is 27 years old, has pleaded guilty to delivering narcotics and carrying a concealed weapon. Although the possession of an explosive device, delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and carrying a firearm to commit a felony charges have been dismissed.
On April 9, Lazarus, who was wanted on a felony warrant out of Jackson, was located by the Michigan State Police in a room at the Baw Beese Inn situated in Hillsdale Township at 1729 Hudson Road.
Upon apprehending the suspect, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of his automobile and discovered a pipe bomb. The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was summoned to the location where they safely disposed of the explosive. According to authorities, it remains uncertain why the individual was in possession of the device or what his intentions were.
The felonious assault charges against him in Jackson are still pending.
