President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Michigan on Friday in order to sign an Executive Order that the White House claims to be a significant milestone for pro-union labor standards. Back in 2023, Biden made history by becoming the first sitting president to show solidarity with striking UAW workers in Michigan by walking a union picket line.

President Joe Biden will be heading to Michigan on Friday to sign an Executive Order that aims to establish new labor standards and promote unionization. This order, considered a milestone by the White House, is designed to provide workers with equal and unimpeded opportunities to join unions. The signing ceremony will take place at the UA Local 190’s Job Training Center in Ann Arbor, where President Biden will meet with union workers and apprentices who have already experienced the positive impacts of his agenda.

President Joe Biden will be heading to Michigan today to sign an Executive Order that the White House considers a significant step towards promoting pro-union labor standards. This order aims to ensure that workers are provided with equitable opportunities to freely join unions and engage in fair labor practices. The President’s visit to Michigan highlights the administration’s commitment to supporting workers’ rights and fostering a more inclusive and empowering working environment.

On Friday, Biden is set to sign his labor standards order at UA Local 190’s Job Training Center in Ann Arbor. The White House has announced that he will be meeting with union workers and apprentices who have benefitted from Biden’s agenda.

The Good Jobs EO aims to strengthen labor standards, including the provision of family-sustaining wages, workplace safety, and equal opportunities for union membership. It encourages agencies to incorporate these standards into their Investing in America programs.

The labor standards executive order aims to support Project Labor Agreements, which promote voluntary union recognition and employer neutrality when it comes to workers’ efforts to join unions.

The initiative aims to enhance the economic stability of workers by instructing federal agencies to prioritize projects that offer essential benefits to workers. These benefits include but are not limited to child and dependent care, health insurance, paid leave, and retirement benefits.

In a statement released on Friday, the White House emphasized President Biden’s unwavering support for unions. This commitment was demonstrated in 2023 when Biden became the first sitting president to personally join UAW workers in the Detroit area on a union picket line, showing solidarity with their strike.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has expressed her commitment to the Protecting the Right to Organize, or PRO Act, as president. The bill, which was approved by the Democrat-controlled House in 2021, faced opposition from Republicans, with 205 GOP House members voting against it.
