A 29-year-old man, Zaden Streb, was reportedly caught with drugs after spending a considerable amount of time inside a convenience store in Westville. He is now facing charges for possession of methamphetamine, which is classified as a level 6 felony in La Porte Circuit Court.
In line with court records, authorities responded to a report of a suspicious man who had been inside Family Express at 11011 W. U.S. 6 for about an hour on July 17th. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered that Streb of Kendallville was stranded and had no means of transportation.
Upon exiting the store bathroom, Streb was met by police who noticed him discarding a crumpled piece of toilet paper. Upon inspection, the police discovered a plastic bag containing .7 grams of methamphetamine inside the unwrapped paper.
The man was in need of a ride, and the police had agreed to assist him. However, instead of providing him with the intended ride, they took him to the La Porte County Jail where he is currently being held on a bond of $755.
The sentence he might face ranges from six to 30 months.
