A man from Boone County, who is facing charges of murder and rape in connection with a 1993 Indianapolis killing, made an appearance in court on Wednesday.
Dana Shepherd, a 52-year-old individual, is facing serious charges in Marion County, Indiana. He has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of rape in connection with the tragic death of Carmen Van Huss. Additionally, Shepherd has been charged in Boone County for being a fugitive from another state. As of now, he is being held at the jail without the possibility of bond.
There were no changes made to his bond on Wednesday. However, an extradition hearing has been scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 26. At the moment, Shepherd does not have legal representation, but he intends to hire one soon.
According to court documents and previous reports, Shepherd stands accused of the murder of Van Huss on March 23, 1993. The case against Shepherd was strengthened by the use of DNA evidence.
