According to officials, a 60-year-old man from Michigan has been charged for the assault on his 95-year-old mother, which ultimately led to her death.
John Miko is facing serious charges in court, including first-degree homicide, first-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult, and assault by strangulation. The charges stem from the tragic death of his mother, Clara Miko. The arraignment has taken place, and the legal proceedings are underway.
In the early hours of July 27th, Clara Miko dialed 911 to report repeated assaults by her son. She urgently informed the operator that her life was in danger and that her son had threatened to kill her.
According to the sheriff’s office, when deputies arrived at the woman’s residence in Denton Township, they found her lying on the floor of her garage apartment with severe injuries that had rendered her immobile.
The victim was interviewed about the incident prior to being transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Clara Miko passed away as a result of her injuries later that day.
Deputies found John Miko at the primary residence, where he was reportedly intoxicated and uncooperative.
Upon investigation, it was found that John Miko had been placed on active probation due to a previous domestic assault.
Currently, he is in custody and confined in the county jail with a bond amounting to $100 million.
