A person staying at a shelter for battered women in Michigan City, IN reportedly struck two police officers. The accused, Katrina Roberts, aged 42, is now facing charges that include three counts of battery to a law enforcement officer.

As per the court records, the officers were called in on July 11th to remove Roberts from the premises. After gathering her possessions, Roberts displayed disorderly conduct outside and even resisted the officers’ attempts to put her inside a police car.

According to the police, Roberts exhibited violent behavior during her arrest. She kicked one of the officers in the chest, causing damage to his department-issued laptop computer. Roberts’ knee kicked the other officer in the face, and she even spat on him. Despite the officers’ efforts to restrain her, Roberts continued to resist and fight back even after being placed in the police vehicle.

According to the police, the officer sustained injuries in the form of abrasions on the left side of his forehead and near his left eyelid.

As of today, Roberts remains in custody at La Porte County Jail, with two separate bonds amounting to $5,000 and $15,000.
