A shooting occurred on the east side of Indianapolis, resulting from an apparent domestic incident, leaving a woman and child in stable condition.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, a shooting took place at a residence located in the 6100 block of East 21st Street. Emergency dispatchers were alerted to a potential gunshot victim, and shortly thereafter, received a distress call from a woman in desperate need of assistance.
According to investigators, it is believed that the woman was holding her child at the time of the shooting and that the perpetrator was someone they knew who was inside the home.
The woman was transported to Eskenazi Hospital, where authorities reported that her condition is stable. The child, whose age has not yet been disclosed, was transferred to Riley Hospital for Children. The child’s condition was also reported to be stable, but medical personnel were preparing for surgery to treat their wounds.
The police have identified a possible person of interest in the shooting. However, they have not provided any further details at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
