A man on the near west side was shot early Friday morning while he lay in bed.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a shooting at approximately 1:45 a.m. They promptly dispatched officers to the 1100 block of Groff Avenue in response to the incident.
A man with a gunshot wound was discovered by the police. Upon their arrival, the man recounted that he had been lying in bed when he suddenly heard gunshots and felt a sharp pain. It was only then that he realized he had been shot.
According to Captain John Arvin of IMPD, the male was taken to the hospital in stable condition by medics. Detectives are currently at the scene, conducting a canvass for door camera footage and seeking any potential witnesses who may have observed any activity outside.
According to Arvin, there were at least four other individuals present in the house at that time.
