On Sunday, Aug. 18, officers investigated a known felon suspected of drug dealing.
Last weekend, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) made three arrests and seizing drugs and guns in a significant operation conducted on the near west side of the city.
On Sunday, Aug. 18, officers initiated an investigation into a known felon suspected of engaging in drug trafficking.
In the afternoon, detectives from the police department observed a vehicle departing from a residence located in the 1000 block of North Holmes Ave.
During a routine traffic stop, law enforcement officers discovered a firearm and drugs inside the vehicle. Consequently, they proceeded to detain the driver, identified as 27-year-old Joshua Canales-Martinez.
IMPD discovered 14 people inside the residence Canales-Martinez had recently departed from, following the traffic stop.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers discovered that two individuals, namely Katherine Maldonado (24 years old) and Mario Gutierrez (31 years old), were among the individuals with a criminal record.
During the investigation, law enforcement officials discovered and seized a total of five loaded firearms, as well as substances believed to be marijuana, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Additionally, they recovered various other items that are commonly associated with the distribution and sale of illegal drugs.
Maldonado faced charges for engaging in the illegal sale of marijuana, as well as possessing both marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Gutierrez was taken into custody for the distribution of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Canales-Martinez was taken into custody for the possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana, as well as unlawfully carrying a handgun.
