A body was discovered on the east side of Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon, and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting an investigation.
Officers were summoned to the 3300 block of North Shadeland Avenue, near 34th Street, to conduct a fatality investigation at approximately 3:30 p.m. on August 4, according to a spokesperson for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Upon their arrival, the officers discovered a female with grievous injuries. At the site, she was declared deceased.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 38-year-old Yolanda Renee Shields on Monday, Aug. 5, and announced that her death had been classified as a homicide.
According to Google Maps, Atlas Restaurant Supply is occupying the space. An IMPD spokesperson stated in a statement on Monday morning that detectives are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and that no arrests have been made.
