An arrest has been made in connection with a double homicide that occurred last week in Michigan City, according to the police.
Armann Johnson, a 26-year-old individual, is facing formal charges in LaPorte Superior Court 1. According to online records, he has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and criminal mischief.
On August 15, at 5:36 a.m., the LaPorte County Regional Dispatch Center received a distress call reporting a shooting incident on Normandy Drive in the 2300 block. Upon arrival, officers from the Michigan City Police Department discovered the lifeless bodies of Kiara Hootman, 22, and Travis Pennington, 35, inside a vehicle parked in the lot. The tragic incident was confirmed through a Facebook post by the police department.
After collecting incidents for 48 hours, investigators have identified Johnson as a suspect. He is currently in custody without bond and will await a future court hearing.
